In the beginning there was the dome. It had always been there. Always out his window. Always just beyond his reach. Shimmering with the light of a perpetual sunset, its dazzling gold exterior bathed his very existence with a holy, omniscient glow. It was his shining star. His status quo. The final step in a long-fought marathon; the top of the highest peak.

It was Dios.

Jake knew the stories. Its history. The greatest city mankind had ever built, forged by the most brilliant minds the world had to offer. Dios was meant to save humanity. Instead, it had closed its doors to the outside world. Those invited in never rejected the offer. And they never returned. What infinite riches lay beyond its walls? What blessings awaited those worthy enough to enter?

He didn’t know how. He didn’t know when.

He simply knew he was destined to walk its streets.

It all started with a dream. Yes, really.

I always knew I wanted to write a book. I'd dabbled with concepts, and even got a few chapters into a sci-fi concept back in college... but it just never clicked. Then one night I had a dream about a futuristic domed city and a barren wasteland beyond its walls. When I woke up I immediately started taking notes.That was back in 2009

What followed was over a decade of stops and starts, drafts and notes, and a whole lot of life. But the story always stuck with me. Fast forward to Jan 2024. The book was finished. I was ready to self-publish and just "get it out", and then the unthinkable happened: My dream of finding a publisher willing to take a bet on me came true. I'm blown away, and truly humbled.

So stick with me. We're nearing the finish line. And it's been one heck of a ride.
